Single origin ceremonial grade cacao from the Zoque Rainforest in Oaxaca State, Mexico, which is considered the birthplace of chocolate with cacao farming and cultivation taking place here for thousands of years. This Ceremonial Cacao is grown sustainably by the indigenous communities - The Zoque tribe - the descendants of the original Mayan and Olmec people. The Olmecs are said to have invented the sacred drink known as ‘kakaw.’ This cacao comes from The Tabasqueño bean - a hybrid of a Criollo cacao bean from the time of the Olmecs, and an Amelonado cacao brought to the coast of Tabasco in the early 1900s. This cacao is incredibly smooth and has an earthy flavor.
